Original reason for Nomination
In addition to his Superstar nominations, we also received regular letters of praise regarding Alan's conduct, enthusiasm and kindness. The Local Management Team felt that Alan's attitude to work was exactly what Superstars was about – someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty and gets out of his job what he puts in.
On one occasion he came to the rescue of a mother and a party of ten year olds, who were stranded in the dark, because their car broke down at a Park & Ride car park. Alan tried to 'bump start' the car and when that did not work, he invited them all to wait in his shelter in the warmth and gave them a hot drink, while they wait for the recovery vehicle to arrive.
Alan's 'can do' positive attitude demonstrates his understanding of what customer service is – not just doing the bare minimum but being dedicated to ensuring the best possible level of service is achieved. His dedication to customer service and genuine care for the wellbeing of his customers shone through and the customers were able to get home safely with minimal disruption to their day.
