Original reason for Nomination
Habib acted in a safe and rational manner when faced with a hazardous and unforeseen situation. On realising that a fire had started on his bus, he brought the vehicle to a halt and took the responsibly decision to guide the children from the bus.
Habib took the children to a safe point in a calm manner, as not to alert and cause unnecessary distress and then contacted the fire brigade who tended to the vehicle. Once the fire brigade was tendering the vehicle, Habib then called The Yellow School Bus Control Desk and alerted them of the situation so they could tell parents of the delay to their children.
By Habib being extra vigilant and noticing the fire in the early stages the damage to the bus was minor.
His manner and approach to the situation when faced with youngsters, who could easily have become hysterical, was responsible and as a result he was able to ease the minds of his underage passengers. The result of his calm action was such that the children were more exited by the fire brigade's attendance rather than the actual problem.
