South & West Wales - De a Gorllewin Cymru

Welcome to the First Cymru website. I hope you will enjoy using the site and find the information you want.
Autumn means that it is time to welcome new and returning students back to our area. In Swansea, our popular Bright Orange Bus (BOB) services provide a frequent link between the City Centre, Swansea University and Hendrefoilan Village. Swansea Metropolitan University has its own service, 81, together with very frequent services 11, 12 and 13 (to Townhill and Mayhill). Students can enjoy discounted travel with our range of BOB termly and annual tickets which are detailed on the Swansea Uni Services pages. An annual ticket is remarkable value, giving unlimited travel on most First Cymru local bus services for around £1 a day! - An ideal way to explore the many attractions of South and West Wales if you're arriving in the area for the first time.
We shortly will be launching our autumn 'Shuttle Extra' excursions programme. This year, several new destinations are included and there are some half-term specials, with a half term 'Halloween' special to Wookey Hole. Christmas shoppers can visit popular favourites such as Bath, Bristol or Cheltenham and this year we're including Clarks Village at Street.
Two important local transport developments will be taking place during the next six months.
The first is the closure, for redevelopment, of the much-criticised Quadrant Bus Station which is being scheduled during the first part of 2009. The rebuilding will give Swansea a new, state of the art bus interchange which will certainly improve travelling conditions for everyone who uses our services.
The second event, in the spring of 2009 will be the introduction of Swansea ftrMetro. The impressive ftr vehicles will eventually run every 10 minutes between Morriston and Singleton Hospitals, taking in along their line of route important destinations such as the Liberty Stadium, Rail Station and Civic Centre and making use of the new Landore Expressway to speed up journey times to and from the City Centre.
Clearly, both these events will have implications to many bus services - full details will be published on this website when they become available, so remember to check here again very soon.
