Welcome to the First Cymru website. I hope you will enjoy using the site and find the information you want.

Summer is almost upon us and that means more opportunities to get out and about and enjoy the coast and countryside which this area has to offer.

The extra daily summer service 1 to Caswell Bay starts on 29th June with buses running every half hour from the Quadrant Bus Station. These extra services will mean a total of up to nine buses per hour between the City Centre and Oystermouth on weekdays. In Pembrokeshire, there will be extra services between Haverfordwest and Tenby throughout the summer.

More and more people are discovering the attractions of the Vale of Neath, Dulais and Afan Valleys by bus. The area boasts a number of important visitor attractions which give an insight into the area's history and landmarks. The forested, deep sided valleys are home to ancient oak and birch woodlands, providing a haven for a rich variety of wildlife.

In the picturesque Afan Valley, the scars of the area's industrial past have now all but gone. Mature trees now line the sides of the valley which boasts fast-flowing steams and panoramic views. There is a network of walks and forestry tracks which make it easy to experience the pleasure of this miracle of land reclamation.

At the heart of the valley is Afan Forest Park, 9000 acres of forest set aside for quiet relaxation, walking, pony trekking or cycling. The park includes the South Wales Miners' Museum and cafe. From Swansea, take hourly (Monday to Saturday) service 159, changing at Pontrhydyfen (Oakwood) to service 23 for the short ride to the park entrance.

The area's attractions - which are highlighted in a special leaflet - are situated close to regular bus services - in many cases, even on a Sunday!

Our summer programme of 'Shuttle Extra' excursions is now available on this website. This year's destinations include days out at Portmeirion, Stratford upon Avon and in the Cotswolds as well as popular favourites such as Bath, Weston super Mare and Abergavenny.

Remember that throughout the summer (and indeed all year!) under 16s can ride all day on all First local bus services for just £2.20. Full details of this, and other money saving tickets can be found in the Fares & Tickets pages of this website.
