Quadrant Redevelopment News - July 2009

News from Willmott Dixon Construction:

Work on site has begun very well. We hope that the impact to your daily lives will be kept to a minimum over the coming months and for the duration of the work.

As you will be aware we have now moved onto the site at the Quadrant Bus Interchange and have started site set up works. These include the installation and set up of our site cabins which will act as the office base for the demolition and construction works for the coming months. We have also built a fence boundary to the site which will be progressively replaced with wooden hoarding in the near future. The ground survey has been completed to establish what cabling and pipe work there is running through the site, thus enabling us to isolate the services and work around them. All of these are essential activities in the setting up of the site and will allow the works to progress and run smoothly.

The demolition of the existing building will begin soon, as well as the initial groundworks preparing the site for the new building. Throughout this work there will be a tunnel walkway connecting the Quadrant shopping centre with Plymouth Street so that access through this way is maintained at all times. A section of the demolition work will be completed out of normal working hours - i.e. over a number of night shifts " to ensure that disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

Mae archwiliad or tir wedi'i gwblhau er mwyn gweld pa waith ceblau a phibellau sydd ar y safle, ac felly bydd hyn yn ein galluogi i ynysu'r gwasanaethau a gweithio o'u hamgylch. Mae pob un o'r rhain yn weithgareddau hanfodol wrth osod y safle a bydd yn galluogi'r gwaith i ddatblygu a rhedeg yn hwylus.

Bydd gwaith dymchwel yr adeilad presennol yn dechrau cyn bo hir, yn ogystal â gwaith tir cychwynnol i baratoi'r safle ar gyfer yr adeilad newydd. Trwy gydol y gwaith, bydd llwybr cerdded trwy dwnnel sy'n cysylltu canolfan siopa'r Cwadrant â Stryd Plymouth fel y bydd mynediad drwy'r ffordd hon ar gael drwy'r amser. Caiff rhan o'r gwaith dymchwel ei gwblhau y tu allan i oriau gwaith arferol - h.y. dros nifer o shifftiau nos - er mwyn sicrhau na fydd llawer o anghyfleustra.
