EUREKA! Is the National Children's Museum, a place where children play to learn and grown-ups learn to play. Everything at Eureka! has been designed to inspire children to find out about themselves and the world around them through 100s of hands-on exhibits.

From Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st May, find out whether you have what it takes to be an astronaut. Eureka is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009 with a week of stellar activities, perfect for kids aged 0-11.

Kingsgate Shopping Centre

The Kingsgate Shopping Centre is home to nearly 50 shops, including House of Fraser, Next, River Island, HMV and New Look.

Shibden Hall, Park and Gardens

The historic, half timbered Shibden Hall, set in majestic parkland dates back to 1420 and is home to a fine collection of 17th and 18th century furnishings once belonging to the Lister family. The 90 acres of beautiful parkland have extensive playground facilities, a boating lake, minature railway and a dry-stone walling display.

To celebrate 75 years of Shibden Hall being open to the public a series of special events are being held.

Sparks! Half Term Fun
Thursday 28th May, 1-3pm
Take part in a half hourly craft activity and complete the gallery trail. Included in admission price to the hall.

Spring Craft Fair
Saturday 39th May, 10am-5pm and Sunday 31st May, 10am-4pm
Held in Shibden Hall, see traditional skills and buy contemporary crafts. There is a special reduced admission price to the hall this weekend.

The Shibden Archives
Thursday 4th June, 2-4pm
This fascinating collection of documents gives an intriguing glimpse into the hall and the lives of those who lived there. Senior Archivist Pat Sewell will talk about the collection and its importance. Included in admission price to the hall, but booking is essential (call 01422 352246).

Shibden 1930s Garden Party
Saturday 6th June, 2pm
Bring along a picnic and your family and friends to enjoy an afternoon of 1930s themed entertainment and celebration. Including music, performance and a chance to share your memories.

Shibden Hall, Park and Gardens

Piece Hall

The Piece Hall is a former 18th Century cloth market, where local traders sold their cloth by the 'piece'. Currently home to a collection of curio shops, a market every Thursday and Saturday, an art gallery and the Halifax Visitor Centre. Events are also held throughout the year.

Bankfield Museum

Set in a wonderful Victorian mill owners house, Bankfield has a growing reputation as a centre for textiles and contemporary craft.

With its internationally important collection of textiles, weird and wonderful objects from around the world, plus commissions by leading makers and a varied programme of exhibitions and events, there is much to see and enjoy.

The Happy People
9th May - 5th July
The Happy People is an exhibition of costumes, photographs and artefacts of the Miao minority people of South West China.

Yorkshire Bank's 150th Anniversary
1st-31st May
Yorkshire Bank turned 150 on 1st May and to launch the occasion it launched an appeal for banking memorabilia through the local press. The bank has had a terrific response and will be hosting a commemorative exhibition of the bank's history.

Going and Returning (Itus et Ridus)
9th June - 18th July
A multi-media exhibition of works by Jonathan Adamson, Pamela Day and Andrew Darke, drawing together two site - All Souls' Church and Bankfield Museum. These are part of the historic area of Akroydon, but in the 19th Century by local textile magnet, Edward Akroyd.

Bankfield Museum

Colne Valley Museum, Golcar

The Colne Valley Museum provides a look back at Victorian Huddersfield. Displays of textiles and former industries based in Huddersfield from the early Victorian days. There’s often spinning, weaving and clog-making demonstrations

Tolson Museum

Each intriguing layer of Huddersfield's past is revealed at the Tolson Museum. From the tools of the earliet settler - made for hunting in the primative forests - to the modern day collectors from local people. Learn how the boom in the textile industry changed peoples lives and brought prosperity to the town. Tolson leads you step-by-step through the centuries of Huddersfield's history.

Standedge Tunnel, Marsden

The former canal warehouse opposite the towpath at Tunnel End has been converted into a Visitor Centre, with displays telling the story of the canal and the tunnel. There is also a film about the canal showing continuously. Admission to the Visitor Centre is free. There are also boat trips from Tunnel End Cottages at the tunnel mouth which go about 500 metres into the tunnel.
