First drivers heartwarming surprise for Valentines Day!

First, the local bus operator in York is getting in the mood for Valentines Day by giving out special heart shaped hand warmers to staff on Saturday the 14th February.

When most people are enjoying a lie in on Saturday morning and perhaps looking forward to breakfast in bed on the most romantic day of the year the driving team at First will be starting work on yet another cold February morning in York.

Charlotte Hudson-Stott, Marketing Manager for First in York said, ‘We thought it would be a really nice idea to surprise our drivers working the early shift, and give them a little something to warm them up as they head out of the depot into service.

As well as giving out hand warming hearts to staff the regions leading bus company also wanted to know who customers would most want to sit next to on the back seat of a bus on Valentines Day. A national poll commissioned by First saw Cheryl Cole and George Clooney at the top of the list.

Bus driver Steve Long, (pictured) wholeheartedly agrees with the celebrity survey and would certainly welcome Cheryl on his bus or in fact any Mrs Cole look-alikes. Although he is quick to add, ‘Obviously my girlfriend would be top of the list for me!

Warren Goodwill, customer service host (also pictured) said, ‘It would definitely be Kelly Brooke and Cameron Diaz for me, or of course my fiancée, Helen.

Mrs Hudson-Stott added, ‘The heart shaped hand warmers seemed like the ideal gesture for the team, particularly on these cold mornings, and will no doubt come in handy for anyone who has forgotten to buy a gift for their partner this year or indeed if Cheryl Cole just happens to jump on board a bus in York!.
