Bus colleagues celebrate 3000 years of service to West Yorkshire
Over 60 members of staff from local bus operator First West Yorkshire have received special accolades for their services to the industry, after working for the business for 25 years or more, which collectively is more than 3,000 years.
First West Yorkshire holds long service awards every year to celebrate colleagues who have achieved between 25 to 45 years of service and in special cases, 50 years of service. Members of staff were thanked at a special evening last weekend at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds, by Managing Director, Paul Matthews, where they received long service award certificates and gifts, in the company of their friends or partners.
With a significant number of staff having been employed by the business for over 25 years, First West Yorkshire is known for providing many of its staff with a job for life. In fact, four members of staff were celebrating a major milestone, after working for 45 years or more, with one member of staff achieving over 50 years’ service.
Speaking about the long service awards, Paul Matthews of First West Yorkshire, said: “I’m always thrilled to be able to present awards to colleagues who have supported the business over the years and to say our long serving members of staff have collectively worked over 3,000 years, is a significant milestone! We had a fun-filled evening and it was fantastic to see colleagues celebrating service to the business from 25 years right up to 50 years.”
