We want our tickets to be as simple as possible for our customers to purchase and use, having a flat fare within the Bristol Zone means that you pay the same fare regardless of how far you are travelling.
Any Bristol short or long trip mTickets that have already been bought on the app will be honoured as a new Bristol Zone flat fare ticket after the 11th November.
This ticket is valid across the whole First West of England network, including the Bath Zone, Bristol Zone and Weston-super-Mare Zone.
We are removing our Outer Zones to simplify our fare structure. If you have been using the Bath & Bristol Outer or Weston Outer tickets, you can now travel further with West of England tickets. Our customers who previously used the West of England tickets can continue using the same tickets while enjoying a fare reduction.
If you already bought a Bath & Bristol or Weston Outer Zone ticket that is valid after 11 November, or you are going to buy one before 11 November and use it on or after that date, don’t worry, you don’t need to change your ticket as our ticket machines and drivers will accept these tickets across the whole West of England Zone.
We are moving away from paper multi-journey products and standardising them into packs of 5 journeys that are available on mTickets and the Travelwest smartcard. Our new zones mean the Bath & Bristol Outer Zone multi-pack is replaced by one for the larger West of England Zone.
Paper 10 Journey tickets can still be used until the 31st December 2018. After this time they will no longer be valid. If you have any remaining unused journeys you can apply for a refund by sending your paper ticket, name, address and contact telephone number to: South West Tickets, Enterprise House, Easton Road, Bristol, BS5 0DZ. Refunds can be made either by the credit/debit card you paid with (proof of purchase required) or cheque.
From the time of purchase, you have up to 12 months to use any Single, Day, Week, Month or Year tickets bought on the app.
Yes, but they will expire after 12 months if not activated.
Yes, there are two ways of doing this.
- Link any card details to an account: for example, if you wanted to buy a ticket for your child, you would log onto their account on their phone, link your card and purchase an mTicket.
- Child tickets can be bought on one mobile phone and transferred to another with mTickets. For example, if a parent and child both have mobile phones with the mTicket app, the parent can buy a child ticket on their phone using their credit/debit card and then send it to the child’s phone for them to use.
No, you can now purchase individual Single journey tickets via mTickets. Infrequent travellers who may not use up a full pack of 5 journeys within 12 months can now purchase Single journeys to use as they need them.
The price is slightly higher to reflect the cost of providing a single ticket one at a time.
You can still get cheaper bus tickets when you buy before you board, by:
Yes. However, Week or Month tickets that have been purchased but not activated within 28 days will expire. Tickets become active the day you first use them. Single tickets are valid for 6 months.
