All service men and women can travel for free with local bus operator First West of England for Armed Forces Day 2019
To celebrate and support Armed Forces Day 2019, First West of England has announced that serving members of the armed forces, veterans and cadets can travel on First Bus services (including metrobus services) for free anywhere in the West of England region this Saturday, 29 June.
The offer by the local bus operator was first launched in 2015 and is being brought back for a fourth year running to help serving and retired members of the armed forces travel on the commemoration day. Armed Forces Day is a national, annual event to show support the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces.
Free travel is available anywhere in the West of England region on Saturday 29 June for:
- members of the armed forces in uniform,
- members of the armed forces who present a valid identification card,
- members of the cadet forces in uniform, and
- veterans who display valid identification such as the MOD-issued Veteran's Badge.
Rob Pymm, Commercial Director at First West of England said: “Armed Forces Day is an important occasion for so many people across the UK, celebrating the incredible service that military personal provide, and most importantly, in remembering family, friends and others who have been lost in service.
“We’re a committed supporter of the communities we serve in the West of England and are proud to help members of the armed forces travel in our region to mark this special date.”
