First West of England help make special delivery to Weston-super-Mare Food Bank.
First West of England and the Unite Union have teamed up to donate almost 50 kilos of food and toiletries to Weston-super-Mare Food Bank.
The company donated a bus to its Union members to transport food that has been collected at the company’s depots in Lawrence Hill and Hengrove as well as its learning centres. More donations were collected when the team arrived in the town.
First driver Lou Robinson, one of the organisers of the initiative, said: “While food poverty is an issue all year round, hunger has been a particular issue for families with children during the school holidays, when those who qualify for school meals miss out.
“It was a very sobering day but wonderful to see the looks on the Food Bank volunteers faces when we arrived with our donations. Thank you to everyone who has been so generous, including the Company for allowing us free use of a bus for the day to get the donations over quickly and in one go.”
