Launch of summer timetables for Weston-super-Mare services 1, 20 and 126
Visitors to Weston-super-Mare will soon be able to cruise along the coast seven days a week, thanks to an enhanced summer bus timetable provided by First West of England.
Customers using the operator’s Somerset Coaster services, which link Weston-super-Mare with Sand Bay and Burnham-on-Sea, will enjoy a more frequent service to coincide with the busy summer season. The Coaster fleet includes open top, double-decker buses, so customers can enjoy the stunning views as they visit more than 20 holiday parks and attractions along the route.
From Sunday 31 March until Sunday 3 November, Service 1 will operate every 30 minutes between Weston Town Centre and Sand Bay, between 7.50am and 5.35pm Monday to Saturday and 9.35am and 5.35pm on Sundays and public holidays.
Service 20 between Weston Town Centre and Burnham-on-Sea will also change from 31 March, operating every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday between 7.40am and 6.05pm and hourly on Sundays between 9.05am and 6.05pm. In the peak of the summer from 28 May to 31 August, four additional journeys will operate throughout the day, and a later last journey will operate from both Weston and Burnham-on-Sea at 7.05pm following customer feedback.
Chris Hanson, Head of Operations, First West of England said: “We expect the services to be more popular than ever this year. We’re really pleased that not only are we bringing back our summer timetable for the summer period, but also offering additional journeys based on what our customers have told us. The summer months are a really busy time for the region, and we hope our revised summer timetables will help people explore and enjoy the attractions in the area.”
Service 126, which runs between Wells and Weston via Cheddar, also takes in some of the popular tourist destinations in the region. Typically a Monday to Saturday service, the 126 will have a Sunday and Public Holiday summer timetable reinstated between 31 March and 3 November inclusive.
Additionally, a new Sunday and Public Holiday winter timetable will be introduced for Service 1 between Sunday 10 November and Sunday 22 December inclusive.
Chris explained: “We have also developed a new winter timetable following feedback from local residents and stakeholders. We will run the Monday to Saturday hourly services as before but will add an additional service on Sundays and Public Holidays too.”
