Passengers receive a Bristolian festive greeting aboard First West of England buses.
Customers travelling on First buses this Christmas season will be welcomed on-board with a festive greeting from ‘the voice’ of the buses, First receptionist Fran Edwards.
Fran’s warm Bristolian burr started off as a well-loved fixture on the m1 metrobus route, announcing each stop from Hengrove to Cribbs Causeway. Now Fran can also be heard on the m3 metrobuses, as well as wishing you a safe flight aboard the Airport Flyer on-route to your next holiday.
Becoming the voice behind the announcements at the launch of the m1 metrobus back in January 2019 catapulted Fran to fame in the city, appearing on radio and TV where she was even asked to read the weather report.
Fran, aged 58 has been a receptionist at First’s Lawrence Hill depot for more than ten years and is well known to everyone in the company, from drivers to management.
She said: “It’s a real honour to be wishing all our wonderful customers a very happy Christmas as they travel around the city. I love that we are preserving the Bristolian accent – I am born and bred and think it sounds so warm and friendly. My four grandchildren have all been on the metrobus to hear their nanny and they think it’s hilarious that I am everywhere!”
During the holiday period, First is making it easier for customers to get out and about with friends and family by reducing the cost of the Bristol, Bath and West of England Zone Group Day mTicket to £5 and £7.50 from Monday 23rd December to Wednesday 1st January. The ticket allows unlimited travel all day (from 4.30am to 4.29am the following day) in your chosen area for up to five people travelling together. Children under five travel free of charge.
