January service changes for Weston-super-Mare and the West of England region9 Dec 2019 West of England
Bus operator First West of England will be making some changes to its services in Weston-super-Mare from Sunday 5th January 2020. These are designed to better reflect customer demand and improve reliability and punctuality of services across the area.
Notable changes include increased frequency and additional journeys on both Services 3 (Worle – Searle Crescent) and 7 (Worle – Oldmixon) at peak times, and changes to the route of Service 172 in the Paulton area.
Following a full review of services in the area, a small number of journeys have been amended to increase reliability and punctuality, with some withdrawn due to low passenger numbers. These include journeys operating across Service X1 (Weston-super-Mare – Bristol), Service X1X (Weston-super-Mare – Bristol), Service X2 (Weston-super-Mare – Bristol via Yatton), Service X3/X3A/X4 (Bristol – Portishead), Service X6 (Bristol – Clevedon), Service X7 (Bristol – Clevedon via Nailsea), Service X8 (Bristol – Nailsea via Backwell), and Service X9 (Bristol – Nailsea via Long Ashton). There will be no changes to routes on these services and customers are advised to check the timetable before making a journey.
Minor timetable changes will be made to Service X2 (Weston-super-Mare – Bristol via Yatton) to allow more time to serve stops in Yatton. Morning departures of Service X1X (Weston-super-Mare – Bristol) from Weston-super-Mare have also been adjusted slightly.
Due to low demand, a small number of journeys will be withdrawn from Service 126 (Weston-super-Mare – Wells), including the 0535 on Mondays to Fridays, and the 0555 on Saturdays.
Several changes will be made to Service 3 (Worle – Searle Crescent) to improve the reliability during peak journey times, including an additional bus in both directions on weekday mornings. The timings and frequency will also be improved during peak afternoon and evening journeys during the week. A small number of Saturday morning journeys will be withdrawn from this service. However, there will be an additional morning departure from Worle on Sundays and Public Holidays, and the frequency will be increased to every 30 minutes, providing more opportunities to travel and more memorable departure times.
Service 7 (Worle – Oldmixon) will run at more regular intervals of every 12 minutes during peak times Monday to Friday, and an additional journey will be added from Oldmixon to Worle in the afternoons. On Saturdays the frequency of Service 7 will be reduced to every 20 minutes, with the first journey leaving Worle at 0650, to better match demand for this service. On Sundays and Public Holidays the service will now operate every 30 minutes and an earlier first journey from Worle to Oldmixon will be added.
