Mobile is just the ticket for best value bus fares
First Glasgow is making changes to fares from Sunday 2nd December and has frozen all child and job seekers fares, as well as reducing its local family ticket fare and is continuing to offer customers the best value for money when they purchase tickets in advance of boarding the bus via its mobile ticketing App.
Most single, day and weekly ticket fares will change, but the best value fares are offered via the mTickets App. For example, a FirstDay ticket will cost £4.40 if purchased via mTickets or £4.60 if purchased from the driver and a FirstWeek is £16.50 via mTickets or £17.50 if purchased from the driver. What’s more, local area Day tickets (Motherwell, Dumbarton, Alexandria, Patrick-Hospital and service 9/9A) are now available to purchase via the mTickets App and these fares have been frozen at the current prices.
The bus operator has ensured all child fares and jobseeker fares have been frozen, as well as its Unlimited ticket option, which provides customers unlimited travel for as little as £1.71 per day. Its Family Day ticket fare has been reduced both on-bus and on its mTicket App, with the best value unlimited travel day ticket fare offered at £8.50 via mTickets.
With over 130,000 students studying in the city, First Glasgow is committed to ensuring it offers tickets that allow students flexible and affordable travel around the city and is therefore introducing a £4 FirstDay ticket for Under 19s and students for the City / Local zones, as well as a £5 Network wide version.
First Glasgow introduced new state-of-the-art ticket machines in November 2017, which has enabled customers to pay for their bus tickets in new ways, including via contactless. mTicket use is growing at 62 per cent year on year as people switch to more convenient options. Data also shows that boarding with an mTicket is twice as fast in comparison to purchasing a ticket from the driver, so the business is continuing to promote mTicket take up by offering the best value fares on its mTickets App.
Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director, said: “These changes are essential to allow us to continue to operate a reliable bus service for our customers. We have worked hard to keep any increases to a minimum and continue to offer customers the best value fares via our mTickets App and we are pleased to introduce new mTicket options. Our focus on encouraging more customers to purchase mTickets will continue, as this helps improve journey times and punctuality, which are all factors that we know are vital to customers.”
