We're on board for Santa Dash 2017 with free travel offer
We're getting into the festive spirit with free travel for those taking part in the city’s annual 5K Santa Dash on Sunday, 10 December.
Thousands of people clad in Santa suits will be taking part in the annual festive event in the city centre and First Glasgow is supporting the Santa Dash again this year with the offer of free return travel for any participants dressed in a Santa suit on the day.
Race participants in costumes and those holding a race card can also obtain single travel for just £1.40 for families and friends
First Glasgow will be well represented at the event, with a team of 35, comprising colleagues from the East End Bothy at Caledonia Depot, taking part with friends and relatives.
Last year saw 7,500 Santa Dashers participating, with even more expected this year. More than £200,000 has been raised for charity since the launch of the event in 2006 and this year’s chosen good cause is the Beatson Cancer Charity.
First Glasgow’s Santa Dashers, who also took part in last year’s event, will be raising money for the Beatson and also for the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow which has already benefited from more than £2,800 in donations from the East End Bothy team this year.
First Glasgow Managing Director, Andrew Jarvis said: “We’re delighted to be once again supporting the Santa Dash with free travel for participants and reduced fares for families and friends.
“This is a wonderful event and a great spectacle which really captures the true spirit of Christmas, and we’re wishing everyone all the very best for a fun day out.”
Trade Union Learning Representative David Cairns, who will be part of the First Glasgow team, said: “This is a wonderful family event and my colleagues and I are delighted to be once again joined by families and friends for it. Our team have been busy raising sponsorship and we’re overwhelmed by the generosity of fellow staff and our many other supporters.”
The Santa Dashers will be under starter’s orders at 1000 in George Square. The warm-up starts at 0930 and roads are expected to be busy with some diversions in place, so please allow plenty of time for your journey.
