Rusholme driver strike update
Bus drivers from Rusholme have confirmed that they will continue strike action on Monday 5th, Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th February.
Only the 41, 42 and 53 services will be affected by the action and bus services from First Manchester’s Oldham, Queens Road and Bolton depots are unaffected including Manchester’s Metroshuttle, Yellow School Buses and Vantage.
Drivers from one of First Manchester’s depots have been striking since October, but the bus operator has continued to operate as many services as possible from the affected depot in Rusholme. Phil Medlicott, First Manchester’s Managing Director made an improved offer to Unite the Union in December.
Phil Medlicott, Managing Director at First Manchester, said: “We remain extremely disappointed that some of our Rusholme drivers are continuing to strike, but I’d like to reassure customers that we will continue to operate as many services as possible.
“There has been an increase in protestors attending the Rusholme depot during strike days, but I’d like to stress that these people are not associated with the strike or business. We already have over 30 drivers who have returned to work at Rusholme and are working to resolve the dispute so that we can return our bus services to normal."
The service details for the strike are as follows:
- 53 service will operate as per its normal timetable
- 42 service will run every 20 minutes between 07:00 – 18:30
- 41 service will run every 20 minutes until around 19:00 and then later evening services will run as normal
