Christmas events in Greater Manchester
Get into the festive spirit with plenty of Christmas events taking place across our region:
Christmas lights parade and switch on
Thursday 22 November 2018, 17:00 - 19:00. Bolton town centre
After a Christmas parade through the town centre, a celebrity guest will switch on the lights, followed by a fireworks display finale.
Bolton Winter Festival
Saturday 1 December 2018 - Sunday 6 January 2019. Various locations across Bolton town centre
Special events and activities will be taking place across Bolton, including a giant covered ice rink on Victoria Square (8 December - 6 January), Santa's grotto (8 - 24 December), Santa's Express train (every weekend from 8 - 23 December) and a festive market with over 100 stalls (24 - 25 November).
Christmas show - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Saturday 1 - Sunday 30 December 2018. Bolton Albert Halls Theatre
A festive family favourite, this classic pantomime featuring a host of TV stars is sure to entertain this Christmas.
Buses 2, 8, 36, 37, 471, 501, 507, 511, 524, 561, 562 and 582 will get you there.
Ramsbottom Christmas Markets
Sunday 9 December (Festive Farmer's Market) and Saturday 15 - 16 December (Town Centre Christmas Markets)
Enjoy plenty of festive food and drink, plus artisan gifts at one of Ramsbottom's Christmas markets.
Buses 472 and 474 from Bury will get you there.
Manchester Christmas Markets
Friday 9 November - Saturday 23 December 2018 (the market in Albert Square is open until 23 December). Various locations across Manchester city centre
The award-winning Christmas markets return for another year, with over 300 stalls across the city centre offering festive food, drink and gifts to get you into the Christmas spirit.
Manchester Ice Village
Friday 9 November - Saturday 5 January. Cathedral Gardens, Manchester city centre
The UK's first dedicated ice attraction features an Ice Cavern full of amazing sculptures, an artcic bar, Santa's grotto and an ice rink.
Christmas show - Cinderella
Saturday 8 - Sunday 30 December 2018. Manchester Opera House
A classic pantomime for all the family with appearances by Coronation Street stars, Les Dennis and Gareth Gates.
Santa's Grotto Manchester Arndale
Thursday 22 November - Monday 24 December. Manchester Arndale, city centre
Children can visit Santa in his Scandinavian log cabin and be greeted by his Lapland elves. Each visit includes a special story book about Santa's visit to Manchester.

Saturday 8 December 2018, 11:00 - 16:00. Parliament Square and Oldham Parish Church
The annual Winter Brass Band Festival is back for more funky sounds and traditional music from local brass bands.
Christmas Tree Festival
Friday 7 - Sunday 16 December 2018. Oldham Parish Church
Get in the festive spirit and take inspiration from 50 beautiful individually decorated Christmas trees adorning Oldham Parish Church.
Buses 58, 59, 81/81A, 83, 180,184, 350, 409, 415 and 425 will get you there.
Rochdale Christmas lights switch on
Saturday 24 November 2018, from 1:00pm - 5:30pm. Rochdale town hall and town centre
Rochdale town hall's Great Hall will be turned into a festive market with gifts, crafts, food and drink, followed by a fireworks display and town centre Christmas lights switch on.
Buses 6, 17, 58, 409, 454, 457, 471, 589 and 590 will get you there.
