First Solent bus drivers get in the spirit of Halloween for Action for Children
Today (Friday 30th October) and tomorrow Saturday 31st October, customers boarding a First Solent bus could be in for a scary surprise when they board the bus as drivers aim to generate a little fun by dressing up in Halloween attire and raise funds for charity Action for Children, as their depot-based colleagues also got into the ‘spirit’ of things by making their office spooky.
Chris Chester, Operations Manager for First Solent said: “When some of our drivers approached me with the idea of dressing up in Halloween attire to raise awareness and funds for Action for Children, I thought, what a great idea! They just wanted to bring a little ‘scary laughter and cheer’ to people’s journey to bring some light relief. We could all do with a giggle during these challenging times and it’s all for a very good cause.”
He added: Seeing about 20 of my drivers turn up in funny outfits this morning instead of their uniform brought a smile to my face, and the feedback from customers has been nothing but positive”.
Nicki, who works at the QA hospital said:
It was a lovely surprise this morning to arrive at the Park & Ride and to be greeted by some ghosts and creepy looking characters – who took us to work. The bus I was on had a skeleton head with red eyes that kept lighting up. It was very amusing to see the reactions of other staff members as they approached the bus and the smiles it put on all our faces. Thank you First Solent drivers for brightening up our morning – just what is needed in our current climate. Great job.
Another key worker who works at the hospital commented: “What a nice surprise on a wet and windy day to see them all dressed up which bought a smile to my face (not that he could see that, what with the mask!) but I’m sure many of us who travel everyday on the bus see what a grand job they are doing and I wanted to let them know”
