Closure of Porthill High Street10 May 2018 all areas
|Location:||High Street, Porthill|
|Cause:||Gas main replacement|
|Dates:||10 May 2018 to 29 Jun 2018|
From 12.30pm on Thursday 10 May for approximately 8 weeks, Porthill High Street will close for a gas main renewal. We feel that the official diversion route is not suitable for buses due to road width, parked vehicles and the likelihood of meeting large vehicles coming in the opposite direction. In addition we are concerned that the length of the diversion will put undue stress on the reliability of the service.
We have therefore decided to divert services 98 & 99 from Wolstanton to Longport via Grange Lane and the A500. We realise that passengers in Wolstanton and Porthill will be without a bus service for 8 weeks, and because of this we have attempted to engage in discussions with Staffordshire County Council and Cadent, who are carrying out the work, without success, with regard to the provision of a shuttle bus for the Village”
Having decided this however, we will monitor traffic flows on the official diversion route, and if ‘no parking’ cones are present and observed, and no delays are observed, we may reconsider our decision”
