First in West Lothian
We’re in the heart of West Lothian, and have West Lothian in our hearts, so it’s important to work closely with community groups and organisations to improve West Lothian, as well as improve bus travel in our area.
We’ve been immersed in the community since 1930, at the time under Eastern Scottish/SMT with depots on Bathgate, Broxburn, Linlithgow and Livingston.
We became FirstGroup in 1994, and remain today with a total of 1,492 years of experienced Bus Drivers still employed at this time. This includes 169 driving staff and 23 engineering and presentation staff.
Find us at our purpose build depot in the heart of Livingston, which we opened in 1998 where our team arrives in the early hours, until late at night to serve our local area.

First in The Community
We are one of West Lothian’s biggest employers, with the majority of our team living in West Lothian and the surrounding area.
Here are some of our projects:
Bathgate & Livingston Job Centre
Our Depot work closely with Job Centres in both Bathgate and Livingston. Our team regularly attend staff meetings, in order to give staff an overview of the depot, and available vacancies.
Following this, the advisors were invited along to the depot to gain a better understanding of working with First, and even tried their hand at driving one of our training buses!
Antisocial Behaviour Campaign
As part of an Antisocial Behaviour Campaign, Livingston Depot worked closely with Deans Community High School and Inveralmond Community School.
Both Schools embraced our presentation and it became part of their PSE Lessons. As a result, the catchement areas saw a sizeable reduction in vandalism, where in the past it had been a problem.
Here are some of the teaching staff from Dean's Community High School, when they were invited along to watch The Livi Lions with our depot team.
We know how important it is to invest in our local area and community to improve more than just travel.
Don't forget - you can download our First Bus App and plan your journey straight from your phone. We'll tell you which bus to take, and what time it's due - plus you can buy your mTicket on your phone and store it there safely.
