Moving with the Times
Technology is playing its part in helping students travel to and from NPTC Group of Colleges with the introduction of the mticket app.
NPTC Group of Colleges along with bus operator First Cymru have been working together to make travel easier for students. It now means that tickets can be bought and stored on the phone any time of the day so there’s no worry about finding lost tickets or forgetting loose change. A range of tickets including weekly and monthly tickets can be purchased in advance. All that needs to be done then, is to scan the mobile ticket when boarding the bus.
There is also discounted travel being offered through a Welsh Government scheme mytravelpass. The discounted travel scheme provides people in Wales aged 16 to 18 with a third discount off their bus travel. The scheme has been introduced following consultations as subsidised travel previously offered by local authorities has been cut and budget restraints have been imposed by bus companies as they face increased costs.
Welsh Government has looked at a number of options along with NPTC Group of Colleges and the introduction of mytravelpass has now been approved which will allow students to continue accessing education and allow unlimited travel in the Swansea Bay area for as little as £2.31 a day.
Bus tickets can now be purchased through the mticket app, available from the app store or from google play via a smart phone.
