Pontardawe Arts Centre
One of the area’s premier arts attractions, Pontardawe hosts many famous names and productions and is a multi-cultural centre with live productions, films and poetry amongst others. It is close to the Jubilee bus stop and there are late evening buses back to Swansea.

Much remains of this once important artery for the conveyance of coal, iron and other minerals between Ystalyfera and Swansea. The canal is intact most of the way between Clydach and Godr’er Graig (just a half kilometre section south of Pontardawe has been filled in) and is actively being restored by the Swansea Canal Society. The Welfare, Ystradgynlais
The Welfare – Ystradgynlais is an arts and community centre situated in the Swansea Valley. A versatile venue offering conference and private hire facilities as well as popular entertainment. With music, live theatre performances, regular cinema, specialist film screenings and weekly community events. The Welfare has something the whole family can enjoy.
The Ironworks Park between Ystradgynlais and Ystalyfera contains the well-preserved remains of the Tin Works which was built in the mid-19th century adjacent to the site of the Ynyscedwyn Ironworks (at which iron smelting had started in 1612 and of which no trace now remains). A large number of arches and columns have been preserved at this impressive site at which the last iron was smelted in 1941.
