New Late Night Student Bus Service
We're launching a brand new night bus service in partnership with University of Sheffield Students Union, which will run every Sunday morning, following feedback from a recent student poll.
Following a meeting between us, Sheffield City Council and the student president of the University of Sheffield, a survey of 500 students showed a demand for a late night bus service and as a result, as part of Sheffield Bus Partnership, we've worked with the Students Union to create a late night service, using the 952 route.
From Sunday 12 March, we'll run two early morning services from Sheffield City Centre, outside the Students Union to Endcliffe, Crookes and Hillsborough. Buses will pick up outside the Union at 2.35am and 3.35am and there will be a number of drop-off points including Brocco Bank, Endcliffe Vale Road, Crookes Road and Walkley Lane.
Allan Riggall, our Head of Commercial, said: “We're pleased to be bringing this new late night bus service to Sheffield University students. We’ve listened to feedback from students and we’re working together with the Students’ Union and Sheffield Bus Partnership to provide a safe, cheap, and easy way for students to get home after a night out.”
Councillor George Lindars-Hammond, adds: “I was pleased to facilitate and support a new relationship between First South Yorkshire and student leaders in Sheffield. As a Council, we are committed to a safe and enjoyable experience for students in the city and this new service shows what can be achieved when we work in partnership for better bus services.”
Single tickets will cost just £1 and Student Week, 4Week and Term tickets will also be valid on the service.
