First South Yorkshire celebrates diversity
Local business and bus operator, First South Yorkshire has celebrated the diversity of its workforce by holding its first ever “Diversity Day”.
First South Yorkshire employs more than 1,100 people and is proud to have a diverse workforce operating and working behind the scenes of the business. To celebrate and help raise awareness of the different cultures working for the business, First South Yorkshire invited staff to bring traditional food to share with colleagues on 18th July – at what was internally called “Diversity Day”.
Colleagues from across the business attended the occasion and the business is now looking to hold more regular similar events.
Speaking about the day, Mo Imran, Employee Director of First South Yorkshire, said: “We’re passionate about ensuring our business is representative of the local communities that we serve. Only by having a diverse team with different skills, qualities and ideas can we deliver a great customer experience; from managing our day-to-day operations, through to keeping our vehicles clean and tidy. That’s why we wanted to recognise and embrace the diversity of our Sheffield team.”
