City Red Drops Price of Its Southampton Week Ticket To £8, Merges CityRed 2 Week Pass Into Southampton Week Product
- Changes aimed at making bus travel more attractive and simplifying fares
- Lower £8 fare for week ticket represents saving of up to 27%
Bus operator City Red has announced that as of 1st March 2019 customers only pay £8 for its Southampton week pass, making unlimited use of its services in the city up to 27 per cent cheaper. A FirstWeek Southampton ticket currently costs £11 if bought from the driver or £10 via the company's popular mTicket app. From the same date, it also will integrate the 'City Red 2' weekly bus ticket into the First Week Southampton ticket, and the First Week City Red 2 product will be withdrawn.
Matthew Callow, Commercial Manager for City Red said:
This change is good news for customers as it makes bus travel in Southampton a real alternative to driving your car, and by simplifying the fare structure we make it easier for passengers to buy the correct fare. At £8 the new week fare represents a big saving, and customers who previously bought the City Red 2 week ticket will be gaining access to all services across Southampton and are therefore able to travel further at a reduced rate. We think many of our customers will welcome the change.
From March 1st, the First Week City Red 2 product will no longer be available for purchase. Tickets already bought can be used until they expire: First Week City Red 2 tickets bought on bus would be valid until they expire seven days later, and First Week City Red 2 bought via the mTicket app remain valid up a year from the date it was purchased.
