Update to our service change
Our plan was to re-route service 3, X4 and X5 away from Ocean Village due to the significant amount of delays caused in this area driven by traffic congestion. Punctuality of buses is highly important for everyone using the bus. However, following feedback from customers and stakeholders, we have decided to maintain the current routing of service 3 in Ocean Village but run via Town Quay as well. We work closely with Southampton City Council, however, we do need your support in requesting to the City Council that priority measures for buses in the area are introduced in order for the service to remain serving Ocean Village for the long term. As a business we are investing in new technology to try and speed up buses, for example by having ticket machines which take contactless bank cards for payment, by offering tickets using mobile smartphones and having a simplistic fare structure – all these actions try to speed up the time it takes for customers to board the bus.
However, service X4 and X5 will be withdrawn from Ocean Village from 2 September and will operate via Terminus Terrace, and they will continue to operate via Orchard Place and Briton Street.
