There are six Park & Ride sites situated around the outer ring road of York city centre, to help you travel into York the stress-free way. And now you can pay using your contactless card, Apply Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay app or with your Apple watch!
Parking at the Park & Ride site
Parking in York city centre can be difficult. With plenty of secure parking at each site offering an affordable and convenient alternative to city centre parking. Driving to York has never been easier.
Parking is free if you travel by a Park & Ride bus into York city centre. There are over 5000 car parking spaces across six sites – so wherever you're coming from you'll find one to suit you. You cannot currently park overnight at the sites.
Closing times* of the car parks, for the last buses see below:
- Rawcliffe Bar, no. 2 Opens: 06:45 Closes: 20:30 (18:30 on Sundays)
- Askham Bar, no. 3 Opens: 05:45 Closes: 20:30 (18:30 on Sundays)
- Designer Outlet, no. 7 Opens: 06:45 Closes: 20:30 (18:30 on Sundays)
- Grimston Bar, no. 8 Opens: 06:45 Closes: 20:30 (18:30 on Sundays)
- Monks Cross, no. 9 Opens: 06:45 Closes: 21:45 (18:30 on Sundays)
- Poppleton, no. 59 Opens: 06:45 Closes: 20:30 (18:30 on Sundays)
*Please note, there is no overnight parking at any of the Park & Ride sites. Once the car park has closed there is a £50 fee for release of your vehicle if it is locked in. Please telephone 01904 883035 for release
How much is the York Park & Ride
It's just £3.10 for an adult return - and if you're with the family, up to 3 children 16 years and under go free with every full-fare paying adult or concessionary pass holder.

Up to three children aged 16 and under travel free with every full-fare paying adult or concessionary pass holder, from the Park & Ride site. If you're a regular traveller, a York by bus Smart Card could save you money on your travel.

* - buy in bundles of 5, 10 or 20 journeys on York by bus smartcard
** - Available to holders of valid English National Concessionary Passes after 0900 Monday-Friday & all day weekends and bank holidays. Before 0900 Monday-Friday the full adult fare is payable.
Park & Ride services run every day, including Bank Holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Ways to pay for your bus ticket
You can pay with your contactless card, phone apple or Apple watch. And with cash, top-up your York By Bus Smartcard or through the First bus m-tickets app.
With frequent buses, every 10 minutes or so, you won’t have to wait long to explore York. The journey is 15 minutes or less to get into York. Next time you're driving into York, why not avoid the hassle and expense of parking in the city centre and try the Park & Ride instead?
