In York, we're able to offer cheaper bus travel to all young people, from 5 to 18 years of age!

Under 5's

Children under the age of 5 travel for free on First buses.

Young People Aged 11 to 16

From your 11th birthday, you'll need a YOzone card to get cheap bus travel.
Your YOzone card will last until 31 August after your 16th birthday. You'll need to show your YOzone card to the driver to buy a Child Single ticket, and each time you use a FirstDay, FirstWeek or FirstMonth ticket.

Young People Aged 16 to 18

The YOzone 16-18 card is available free to any young person aged 16-18 who lives or studies in the City of York Council area.

When you turn 16, keep using your YOzone 11-16 card until you finish Year 11 in order to get the lowest possible bus fares available.

During August, when you've completed Year 11, you can apply for your YOzone 16-18 card as soon as you know which school or college you'll be attending in Year 12. If you live outside York you'll still need to be enrolled at a York school or college.

No Pass? Sorry, you'll need to pay full adult fare!

We're sorry, but without a valid YOzone card or other photo ID issued by a local or national government body or transport operator, clearly displaying your date of birth our drivers won't be able to issue a ticket at the concessionary rate and you'll need to pay the full adult fare.
